Alabama River

Featured Replies

Does anyone fish the Alabama River around Prattville?  If so what it like?  What colors are usually good?

Hey I/m from selma down stream from Pratville. But up and down the river the colors and presentations dont change very much. Big shad crank baits with charttrues, like a lime shad. Also jigs in the wood cover, I like pumpkin seed chartrues. I also like to dead stick around the soap stone walls with black and blue, red and black, or june bug craw worms on a 3/8 oz weight (texas rigged). If you have some more specific questions ask away.

Are there any places to watch out for running up and down the river.

I like to fish points, coves, creek channels, rocks, and any submerged or exposed wood. If you have a depth finder, try and find some ledges and drops. We have caught a lot of fish this summer on spots where shallow and deep water are close together.

Have you ever caught a spotted bass? If not, you are in for a real treat.

Let us know how you do.

yea we have spots in Lake Russell.  I like the smallmouth in Nc though.  I'll be going down there around Oct.  just trying to get some basic info right now.  Is there a map?
