lake okeechobee

Featured Replies

fished the bass busters tourny out of clewiston yesterday and man does the lake look amazing. i fished 2 spots today that i haven't fished in over 4 years because the water has been so low. i only had two bites and caught only one fish. what a beauty she was though earning my partner and i big fish honors. i look for the lake to regain the status of the best lake in the state if the water stays where its at or gets higher. i just pray that the powers that be don't start draining the water out.

Great pic, I can't wait to get out on the Big O soon and tear them up.

I am sure the lake will rebound with all this rain, were there any much removal projects on the South End of the lake?

I read that the lake is back to standard level.  great news.

the article went on to say that the dykes have been inspected and are in "great shape"  there are no plans to drain any water till it reaches 14'.

I think the water folks are realllllllllllllllllllll happy that mother nature corrected their mistake of over draining.

I was up on the North end Saturday and Sunday, like bocabasser said, places I have been watching fields of grass grow and could not get to for 3 years are now flooded with water, I drove between Codys Cove and Kings Bar and couldnt believe it, crystal clear water with miles of pencil grass, and Kissimmee grass teaming with bait fish and life.

When low this lake fish's like a mill pond with only several areas holding fish, packed with anglers, finally hundreds of places will now be

accessible.

Okeechobee will once again be the premier lake in the sunshine state.

It rained all day, and wind blowing like mad, maybe I can get out tomorrow.
