Lake Anna report

Featured Replies

Went yesterday for about 8 hours and, as usual, the fish were few and far between. Caught several short fish early cranking rocks, and saw several other boats catch some fish doing the same thing. Then wasted about 3 or 4 hours without a bite before finally managing a couple decent fish.

I was there Friday, and had about the same result.  The only fish I found were in the very backs of creeks/coves around wood and beaver lodges. Not many of those either. Was good weather though.

I hit Anna on Sunday and caught 10.

Two were 13-inches and seven were 12-inches and I nailed a ten-inch dink.

Caught four in a row off one boathouse with the shaky head technique.

Lots of fun and best day ever on One Fish Anna.

So what did I throw and what techniques did I use?

Shaky Head off all docks and moored boats on the sunny side of the shoreline.

Caught nine on a shaky head and the 10-inch dink on a Bomber Flat A deep diving crankbait in Sexy Shad.

Used Culprit orange Shaky Head worms.  Should have used a 10-inch blue worm as I would have done better but left them at home. Live and learn.

It was windy on the lake this Sunday with overcast skies.  I was looking forward to a blue bird day so those devils would hide under the docks and be sitting ducks for wacky and shaky presentations. But no luck as they were scattered all over the place.

So if you go back to One Fish Anna, hit the sunny side and throw some topwaters in the AM and then go to your shaky and wacky presentations when the sun starts to shine and the water temps rise.  :)
