Fishing vacation...LakeOkeechobee area

Featured Replies

I am taking a fishing vacation starting the 12th of Feb. for about ten days to two weeks in and around the Lake Okeechobee area. I am taking my boat and have a guide the first day on Okeechobee after that I am pretty much on my own. I would appreciate any info from fisherman in the area including other lakes to check out in the area including some which would be good in case the wind is up.

Basically it's a fishing trip with a little sight seeing on the side so I would appreciate any info you might share.

Thanks Jeff

if you are willing tp make an hour or so drive south, holiday park is red hot right now and only going to get better. caught well over 100 fish today between 1 and 3 pounds. the bigger fish are there, but they are still on the flats. they continue to dump water at a fast rate, so the fishing will only get better. oh yea, it was 82 degrees and beautiful today.

East of the Lake on State Rd 80 (Southern Blvd) is the north entrance to the Loxahachee Wildlife Ref. The fishing is good there and they have new ramps. You can fish the canals or run 25 miles south and fish the flats.
