Fish aint biting

I went out to the lake today and it was the first time ive been to this lake but I was out there from 9:00am-3:00pm. I didn't get the first bite all day. I don't know if i was doing something wrong or if the fish just weren't biting. I tried everything I had in my box including, football jigs, spinners, all sorts of plastics, crankbaits, and even live minnows. I fished all around the lake in shallow water around trees and lillypads, and i tried deep water, I had fish all over the fish finder but I never got a bite. It was about 57 degrees outside temp. Anyone have any explanation for this or tips for when I go back?
