Swim Baits:  Set Up

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I just started throwing swimbaits here in central AL. The lake I fish most is deep and clear, has some real pigs in it so I'm trying the swimbait. It's still a little chilly now and the bait fish aren't really moving but I have been chunking them just to get a feel. I said all that to ask this. I need a rod for these. I have a heavier duty Quantum DX reel. It's a couple of years old, but it's burly enough to handle the heavier baits. I'm looking at a 7'6" heavy action from BPS. The largest bait I'm throwing is 6" around 1-3oz. I'm not throwing the big 8" trouts or anything like that. I have 25lb big game on the reel right now.
