visiting pops in falls church

Featured Replies

going down to visit my father next week and would like to know of any other boat rental lakes in the area, already heading to fountainhead so any others within an hour of falls church would be appreciated. i read that fountainhead is tough right now, but new water is new water and hoping to get my pops to come out and join me. also any recommended tackle shops in the area? thanks.

Burke Lake, Lake Fairfax, Lake Accotink all rent boats. If you are willing to fish the river I believe Riverbend and Algonkian parks rent canoes. There really aren't too many rental places around the area but good luck.

As far as tackle shops...we don't have any good ones. Seriously, none. The closest decent stores are an hour away, either west out in Winchester or south down in Fredericksburg. If you are driving down, you should stop by the Bass Pro Shop in Anne Arundel, MD. It isn't too far off of I-95.

Dan mentioned the renal areas. As far as tackle shops...I think the best in the area is Dicks Sporting goods in Fairfax. It has a decent selection. In fact they have the largest fishing section of any Dicks in VA. Not a true tackle shop but will probably suffice.

It's sad but that is the best place for tackle in the area.

If you wanna push that hour travel time to full capacity there's a Dicks and a Gander Mtn off 130 in F'burg. And there are two rental places near there as well, Motts and Hunting run. Also a 900 acre rez in Quantico called Lunga. They rent boats wednesday through sunday. Motts is closed tuesday and wednesday. Unsure of hunting run (heard hunbting run is hot right now)
