Buckhorn Reservoir, NC

To start off with, I will say that I'm in the process of putting up a post on NCAngler about this as well.  I just like to get information from where ever I can.  

Now for the topic.  I will be heading up to fish on Buckhorn Reservoir in a few weeks and just wanted to see if anyone on the boards had been there before.  I went out on a kayak recently and it's a beautiful lake.  While I was able to locate the road beds around the main river channel, I was only there in a kayak and was not able to find any underwater structure.  

So my question... what kind of techniques should I use at this lake?  Anything seem to work better?  I know a bit about fishing deep this time of year, but I also know that certain things work a little better from one fishing location to the next.  Any spots I should look for?  I'm not asking for all the secrets, just some info to get me started.  

I plan on picking up a topo map this weekend to start studying the drop-offs and maybe find some locations that way.  Anyways, like I said the place was beautiful and I look forward to the trip.  Also, thank you for what ever information you can pass on
