Parking at Huntsman Lake NOVA.

Featured Replies

I've found that the best place to park is along Golden Ball Tavern ct. close to where it meets Golden Leaf ct.  There's a trail that leads down to the lake, and puts you as close to the water as possible.

What i had told you!  :P

Any luck?

it really depends on where you want to fish...

i checked this place out today

how far can you walk around it to fish???

i got to before the southern most point then gave up. is there a path

just came back from the lake

fished from like 7:30am til about 15 mins ago, didn't catch anything as expected.

i left cuz i saw a weird thing swimming near by, looked like snake? the head was up the surface swimming around (about 3-5 of them), left right after that

anyone have idea wut it could be?

could have been a snake. They won't bother you. If they do, just throw stuff at them or make a commotion in the water with your rod tip, that usually scares them off.

i wish i had my camera with me, couldnt take much with the iphone earlier

are there any hot spots at the lake? i fished right behind the houses backyard, walked right now, but had no luck.

yea probably snakes, i've never seen them travel in a group like that though but they usually won't bother you unless you step on them or something.

I have the most luck along the rocks and the coves on both sides...probably cause those are the only places I fish...  ;D

i know there is a huge difference in these but turtles usually arent alone, and they swim with their heads out of the water. whatever the case, man up. jk.

Haven't been there in a while but I'd imagine with how dry it's been up until these last couple of storms over the last few days some of the better spots are probably aren't producing as well.  I normally have luck here at the d**n with mid depth cranks hitting the bottom on a slow retrieve, lipless over the deeper water with varying retrieves or spinnerbaits in the couple of coves on the lake.  But those coves are more than likely too shallow to produce right now.

If you fish where the dam is, I prefer standing where the irregular shoreline is by the cove on the right.  I cast out torwards the deeper water from that point at the mouth of the cove or working around the rocks there.  Also I like cutting through the woods on the opposite side of the d**n and fishing the point on that cove as well.  Most of the fish come off the drop or anywhere you can see grass submerged (not much here, but this cove has some).

I may be able to get out Wednesday morning if anyone wants to hit up some spots of mine.  Hit me up via pm or email: jcrzy4smlmth@gmail.com
