just moved here from Miami , Fl.

what do you NC guys do up here?

and is anyone down to meet up and do some fishing? ive been looking at google maps all day and alot of places dont seem accessible , but im sure they are. just dont want to be driving around getting lost and wasting gas for nothing.

Garner is a nice place.  You have Lake Wheeler and Lake Benson pretty close by.  To the east is Jordan lake and Sharron-Harris Lake.  To the north is Falls Lake.  All great places to fish or pleasure ride.  

I haven't been on Wheeler or Benson, but I know Jordan and Falls have many places to put in.  I have heard and read about people shore fishing, kayak fishing, and bass boat fishing from both as well.

well , in miami , if we ever got bored , we went to the beach. lol. but im looking forward to going to some car shows since im really into car audio. but other than that , fishing is my main thing since its ALOT cheaper.

since i dont have a vehicle at the time (using my fiances), im looking for the closest spots around.

we went to benson when i was up her this past winter , but it was pretty dead from the spot on shore we found right before the dam. and from what ive heard , they mainly do jon boat rentals. i plan on picking one up from craigslist soon though.

we're still very new to the area (just got here friday) , so we still have to venture around and see what looks good.

I live in Garner. Save your money and forget about Benson. Try Wheeler for big bass if you buy a boat...or Harris, Falls and Jordan. Garner is a big change from Miami, but there's plenty of good fishing around. Welcome to the neighborhood!!

I live in Garner and just got back into fishing a couple of months ago. I agree about Lake Benson, not worth the effort. I usually go out to Falls Lake. I think I'm going to try Jordan next, but I haven't been there in years. Perhaps we could meet up at some point. This is my first post on this board and I'm looking forward to meeting some folks and getting some better fishing in.

I'm from the western part of the state, but I always hear great things about Falls and Jordan.

    Going to Jordan lake tommorrow.  Maybe we could get together and do some fishing sometime.  

    If you want to have a shot at a double digit bass go to Harris, it's the best big fish lake in the state.

got my non-resident license , but im still legal to fish. tomorrow , my father in-law and i are probably going to hit up wheeler but we have johnson , benson and bass lake bear by.

im right by the 40/42 intersection , so if anyone is down for some fishing in that area , let me know.

I live in Sanford, so I guess about an hour away.

I usually go to Jordan Lake and Shearon Harris lake.

There is a boat ramp for Shearon Harris lake on highway 42.  It's pretty close to Fuquay-Varina.

When you get to Jordan Lake I recommend using the Farrington boat ramp.  It's not ever really crowded and there are plenty of places to shore fish from there.

im dropping the fiance off at work tomorrow , then ill be hitting up whatever spots i can find at wheeler and benson. i should be getting out there around 9ish.

    Never even seen Wheeler lake or Benson lake so I can't help you there.
