Fishing locations near Charlottesville, VA?

Featured Replies

Hey y'all,

I am new to fishing and wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions for where to fish near Charlottesville, VA.  I go to UVa (go hoos) and currently am fishing a pond on a farm but would like to try some new environments.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wayne P. will give you the "scoop" on the Charlottesville area fishing locations.

Are you bank fishing or have a boat?

Please get the 2010 DG&IF Freshwater Fishing publication and it lists places to list in your area.

Also, plan to attend the Richmond Fishing Expo this weekend at the racetrack on Laburnum Avenue. It is worth the price of admission.

Then, look up Green Top on Google for their location and visit their store. They are having their sale, too.

You may find a map of the Albemarle/Charlottesville areas which will show the various ponds and lakes.  Be sure to check out any apartment complexes and office parks as they have ponds.

And watch out for copperheads in your area.

Good luck.  :)

Thanks for all the info Sam. DG&IF site later than night which has places to fish and is very helpful.  Currently I am fishing from the shore.

I'll make sure to check out the other suggestions as well.

I have been to Lake Albemarle once. Plan on going back a few times this year. Rained almost the entire time we were there. I cought 3, and the other 2 people I was with caught a total of 5. Lost more lures there that day, than I did any other two days combined. Has a ton of cover.
