Okee-Tantie Fishing Report

Launched out of Okee-Tantie marina this morning to scout for this weekends upcoming youth duck hunt and did a little fishing.  Found plenty of dead tilipia, snook, and a HUGE manatee, but found a great spot just before reaching the Buckhead Ridge canal.  Beds galore!  Only fished for a little bit since we were trying to put up ducks, but when we did fish it was on.  Find the Pepper grass and the hard bottom, had best luck fishing white trash Skinny Dippers with a small 1/16 oz bullet weight and Spro Bronzeyes.

One major problem though, don't come off plane too quickly unless you want to trolling motor back out to deeper water.  Fished out of the good ole go devil motored boat so we could get back there, caught some poor sole trying to get out of the mud. If you can't get deep in the stuff to find the pepper grass try the outside reed edge with trap type baits and cover ground, saw a few bass chasing baits.  Don't forget to look out for a dead manatee he was right in the middle of outside grass edge channel, would not be very good to hit it on plane.

GOOD LUCK and TIGHT LINES!

Kinda sickening to have to see all that dead wildlife eh?

But that cold snap we had was brutal.

Good luck out there.
