Anyone down in NC fishing Hyco lake and Mayo reservoir?

Featured Replies

Since I can barely find any info on Mayo on the net, I was wondering if anyone has been there or to Hyco and what the fishing is like. I'm hoping I can get down to Mayo this sunday since we are going to have a few warm days in a row and maybe catch some bass on a shallow bite  ;)

Google hawg hunter guide service. My friend Kennon Brown owns the operation and has fished every wet spot in the area. Click on contact us and get the phone number if you are interested. Make sure its not the guide sevice in Florida. If I am not mistaken Hyco has a hot water discharge which makes it a major attraction in the winter. Anyways, Kennon can tell you what you need to know.

Sounds good, I'll look him up and yes Hyco does have a hot water discharge but I have also heard that Mayo does as well.

Hyco is a power plant lake. I haven't fished it this year due to my local snows. I think the fee to fish there is $15 a day. I've done well there in the Winter using the water temp pattern at various locations.

Yeah it is still $15 unless you buy a year membership and that is somewhere between $65 - $90 I think. Thats why I'm leaning towards hitting up mayo this weekend which only about 15 minutes further away from hyco and its free to launch.
