Keel Shield install

Featured Replies

Hey all!

I am looking for anyone in the central FL(Polk County) area that has experience installing keel shields that may want to help me do mine. I was planning on having a dealer install it but their fees are OUTRAGEOUS! PM me if you are interested and we can discuss further.

If I was closer I'd be more than happy to help you out....theres also the whole I'd have no clue what I'm doing thing.  But I can sit in a lawn chair like a mofo.

try this http://www.keelshield.com/51.html. i would guess the hardest part is just pulling the trigger and starting. it doesn't seem that difficult, but i have never done it so i don't know.

I was looking at this product as a possibility for my kayak.  The bottom edge is getting gouged up pretty good from all the rocky shore launches and beachings.

I guess an alternative that I was thinking of, as well, would be to just layer up some good old fashion duct tape!  Did you guys happen to see that "Mythbusters" episode where they used a backplate made of duct tape layers to fire a cannon from?!

My worry is that my boat has ridges or chines that extend along the whole bottom of the boat all the way to the keel. I have a feeling this is where i will mess up! If it was a flat surface on each side of the keel i would not worry.
