ive never actually fished it but from shore a few times but it seems like there is very little cover. Is the best way to fish it just look for the drop offs? hope to give it a try sometime any help is great.

I've never had any luck fishing shoreline structure there.  The things I look for there are drop offs, holes, and points.  There's also an old road bed that runs across that holds fish.
