Food Source lures

Featured Replies

Haven't heard anything about these for a while - just wondering if anyone is using them and any reactions.  If this has been discussed and I missed it, please redirect.  Thanks

They work all right, but not as good as regular plastics. The action is a bit stiff and scent usually isn't what catches fish, it just HELPS in some situations, mostly to hook more strikes.

x2. I bought a couple of packs when they were on sale for practically nothing at my local store, but they are really stiff and only fished them once with very little confidence. Did not catch anything. They smell just like fish food.

Don't like them. Bought them for sunfish, to use on a small jighead, specificly the jighead that comes with trout magnets. Anyway, the cheap plastic trout magnet grub worked better than the food source grub, so I don't think I'll be buying these again. If your targeting bass I especially wouldn't buy these things, your much better off with a GYCB, Yum, Berkley Powerbait, Zoom product, then any food source bait if your after bass in my opinion.

I just generally wouldn't these baits for anything, they just don't seem quality to me, but who knows, maybe someone does good with them  :-?.

I wasn't nuts about them either. I used them ice fishing once and the perch would just come up and look at them. I said screw them, put on a perch eye, and immediately started icing perch on every drop.

Thanks for the info - I had been given some as samples and haven't had a chance to use them yet - was just wondering.  With any luck, I will dunk a few over the lunch hour today and will give you a report if there is anything to report.
