Stafford/Fredericksburg Area

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, any recommendations on good shoreline fishing in the Stafford/Fredericksburg, VA area?  I've heard people talk about Abel Resevoir.  Is that primarily boat fishing, or are there some good shore areas to fish at Abel as well?

What's up bud. Abel seems like its would be good, and ive heard of fish coming from there. But all from the boats. There's a path that you can walk down for quite a ways, and I've put my fair share there and still have a skunk.

Lake curtis has fish, and some shore spots from the rec park, not vdgif ramp.

The rappahannock is a great place for smallies, explore that with some lighter tackle and hang on.

Good luck and welcome. Stay a while and you'll gain more spots daily. I suggest using Google maps to look at spots, as there are 13 "lakes" in stafford alone. Locust Shade has a small pond in pwc, but a crap load of pressure and people fishing for dinner. BUT its stocked with trout from November til April,  so I'm convinced big man is there somewhere.
