Okeechobee fish camps

The wife and I are planning a trip this summer to Okeechobee and I have never been on the big O.  She likes Camp Mack and Grape Hammock so I'm looking for something similar  preferably on the north end.

Not really anything like GH and Macks as far as the old Florida vibe, Roland Martins has some nice facility's and is close to the ramps and has slips but its set up a little different then a Fish Camp.Just nice hotel rooms by the lake.

Same with Okee Tanti on the north end no fish camp per say, there's a couple of them off the rim canal on the far north end but Iv never stayed at them.

J&S is probably the closest thing to a Kissimee style fish camp on Okeechobee.

I would suggest a room at Roland Martins or a hotel room in the city of Okeechobee with a 10 minute drive to nice ramps at Okee tanti, and access to nice places to eat. Both have you near excellent fishing .

I have stayed at Buckhead Ridge Marina a dozen times or more and it is really a retirement camp/fish camp. Very quiet, clean, reasonable and on the rim canal directly across from the locks to the lake. It is only a couple of miles from Okee-tanee also. It is very hard to get reservations since people renew their reservations each year but a very nice place to stay.

Here is the disclaimer: I have not stayed there in about 5 years but if I was going to the "Big O" that's where I would stay. You should be able to find their website by searching Buckhead Ridge Marina.

It is on the north end of the lake about 10 minutes from the city of Okeechobee................Al

Hey Bruce... We are probably coming sometime in July.  Instead of one big trip during the summer out of state, we are going to do long weekends at semi local lakes we have never been to.  The big O, Rodman, Panasoffkee, Orange/Lockloosa.

right on lee. let me know when you are on the lake. i will be on summer break until august. maybe we could meet up.

Will do!

In my opinion Macks, Grape hammock, Lesters, are true Old Florida Fish Camps, while Okeechobee has plenty of amenities unfortunately there's nothing as cool as they are.

Lee give me a holler when you come down Ill put you on some fish.
