Kanawha River

Featured Replies

As my move to West Virginia draws closer, I'm spending more and more time researching the fishing opportunities around my soon-to-be home. There are a few reservoirs within driving distance, but the Kanawha River runs right through Charleston. I have read both good and bad reviews. Has anyone spent any quality time on this river?

kanawha is so-so. its alright to kill an evening. but better options exist imo. obrien, mud river, and woodrum lake a little outside of charleston are good.

I've had some good days on the Kanawha - used to fish tourneys there. Very interesting and challenging and a real grab bag of lgmouths, spots, smallies, hybrids, etc. Once had a shopping cart pattern going.
