Small fish, but a decent day...

I woke up an hour after I wanted to, but still made it to the launch by 7:00:

The lake was like a mirror, and I as unloaded, I felt that familiar shake in my knees...after all these years, Bass fishing still excites me! I hit the water, tie on a Sebile Spin Shad, and hit the drop offs. Within a few casts, this little guy decided to pay me a visit. He was small, but had great color:

A few minutes later, his bigger brother shows up:

At this point, I thought it was going to be an unbelievable day, turns out, I was partially wrong as I lost the next 7 fish right at the boat! Why I asked...the lure is too small! The Sebile Spin Shad is a fantastic lure which has caught some fish for me, but it's downfall is the very small size of the bait, as well as the 1 treble it has. So I take a few moments, tie on a Cultiva SP Jerkbait in Perch color, and I head to a shoreline of lilly pads. I noticed that the pads are in shallow water, but slowly drops off to 9 feet. So I back the yak up, cast right at the edge of the pads, and work that bait right down the drop off. Well, I guess I was right about the small hook, as I was in the Bass again!:

Not much size to them, but a lot of fun to catch. 6 to the yak, lost 7, but I will definitely be going back ASAP!!

Nice lookin lake right there.  Care to share the info?  Looks like a spot I may want to take my Jon.

Sounds like a fun day.  Wish I was out fishing instead of that whole work thing....
