Off the shnide - Lox

Featured Replies

I finally caught some bass at Lox Sunday. Grand total from my last twp trips there - 1 snagged bream.

I ended up with a 4,2,2. I fished trick worms slowly inside and out of the bull rushes and cover. I fished the inside canal that runs NE about 100 yards north of the ramp. The bass were biting lethargically, the hits were very slight. The weather was terrible, WNW wind, cool, and some showers. I fished from 9:30 - 12:00. There was some kind of tourney going on. All of the boats pulled up to the ramp at 12:00. Everyone was in a hurry, so I didn't get to ask them how they did.

I noticed a new sign announcing the construction of a new water storage impoundment east of the ramps. There will be periodic closings of the east canal to hikers and boating traffic. I am wondering if this new area will be open to boating or if it will be sealed off by levees.

yeah that was the word of mouth big fish tourny. Bruce probably knows what won it. I couldnt fish it and am glad based on your report.

What was the water temp?

Whatever it was, it needs to warm up some.  Fishing has been very slow and very hit or miss everywhere it seems.

I went to Lox Friday.  I talked to four other boats...none of those guys had even one fish (including one guy I towed in off the flats...he blew his engine). I didn't do great, but I was catching ~3/hour. You've got to find the warmer water (hint: stay East.  The water West is ~4degrees colder)

What was the water temp?

Robert...when I was there Friday the water at the ramp was 56F at 10:00AM. The water temp was about 4 degrees colder out west (52F in the canal).  The East flats warmed to about 60 by 3PM.

When it gets back up to the mid 60s I am there, but so is everyone else  >:(

i fished the big fish tourny on sunday and came in third with a 4.6. big fish was 6.3 and the second was 5.10. the water was 58 and never got higher than 61. it got colder as the day went on. another front is coming sunday and it should cool the water even more.
