Featured Replies

have never fished this lake.will be there in two weeks staying at campground AT OKEECHOBEE.any advice on areas, etc to fish.big lake need help.thanks.

Need more info about your trip to lake Okeechobee.

Do you have a boat or are you renting one? Which marina?

If you are bank fishing, live shiners is your best bet.

Im assuming your coming out of Oki Tanti or Scott Driver Ramp.

Be careful, the waters low, leaving that river into the lake looks like deep open water, turn right and you'll find out it isn't. Just go up to the east side of Kings Bar and ease in, there's fish up there.

Was out duck hunting about 2 weeks ago and turned right with a duck motor and guess what?  I almost bottomed out, was during the last day of the Everstart event and I thought to myself I hope none of these bass boats cuts through here like they did in the summer.

Back on topic:  Shoot me a PM and I'll put you on some fish.

Don't be stingy, with those fish  ;)

I bet that Merc trailer had 20 lower units ready to go.

I fished Okeechobee today with my Dad. Fished from 10:00 - 2:30 and caught 23 bass. No monsters, but some nice fish (13-15lb bag). I went to my first spot and had five fish in 15 minutes. Never even made it to my other spots...the fish never stopped biting. 75 degrees, nice gentle breeze. Great day on the ol' lake with the ol' man...

I bet it was nice out there today, Mike. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Was kinda ticked off I got stuck doing some work related stuff. I really wanted to get out for a few hours this afternoon.

I am up here for practice for the FLW Tour (as a co-). Everything is perfect for a great tournament. My pro practice partner and I are catching them pretty good but with maybe 15-18# a day, we know we have to do better to compete. It is shaping up to be a slugfest and even as a co- I figuring you might need 20s to make the cut

Eric,

Yeah...perfect day. Very comfortable fishing. Didn't even have to wake up early..

Salmi,

I agree...I think it's gonna be a slugfest out there. This stable weather is gonna kick out some big bags. Good luck! If you're getting #15-#18 bags, then you're a kicker or two away from competing.

The Big O is going to be great the next couple of years as long as SFWMD doesn't mess it up.

How is the water level in the lake?

12.5'

Got an 8 1/2 this weekend. Pros everywhere pre fishing. Ill be fishing my trail on Saturday out there amongst them.

The front they expected isn't going to make it, with warm mild days forecasted expect some big sacks, there's beds everywhere.

Some ridiculous sacks pulled out of Big-O yesterday. #35-3 leading after day 1. 25lbs wouldn't even put you in the top ten.

This stable weather combined with the spawn is creating the slugfest we thought it would be. Might take 100lbs to win this...
