Lk Gaston report

Featured Replies

I fished Lake Gaston today in a small bass club.  It was rough, it seemed only soft plastics were doing the trick.  Bass seemed to still be deep.  Nothing on cranks, spinnerbaits, moving baits.  We found water temp. as high as 62 degrees back in Poplar creek.  Letting anyone know in case you are fishing the Federation tourny Sunday.

What was big fish, and winning weight today?  :)

The winning weight was 5 fish totalling a tick over 10 lb.  Yeah, rough day.  Big fish was just under 3.5

Actually, Woody fished in a beautiful Ranger with a 250 with a great guy who showed him the lake.

Seems the fish were holding under the docks and a shaky head or a wacky rigged Senko were the keys to victory.

Wind was a serious problem. Ate up everyone's trolling motor batteries.

Woody placed 18th or 19th and I was 8th.

The best part was getting back on the water and fishing. However, I did lose three crankbaits and lots of shaky head setups fishing the stump and rock fields.

Woody and I went to the Double Secret Pond onthe way back to Richmond to find it about 5-feet low. I caught a one-pounder on my first cast and then three dinks.

Woody caught four dinks.

The bass were still silver which means they are holding deep in the pond where we can't place our baits unless we use the paddle boat.

Personally, I am tired and hurt all over but for some reason, it feels good!!!  :D   :D   :D

I enjoy reading your posts Sam.  :) Sounded like a tough day. Fished chesdin today only caught 2 keepers. There were multiple tournaments going on and most of those guys either zeroed or only caught a few small ones. I think this temperature drop from yesterday had them off. Are we going to the ponds tomorrow Sam?  :D

Yes. Let's fish one of the other ponds on the course and then fall back to the one we fished last week.

Will call you to get a good time to meet IN THE MAIN PARKING LOT!!!

Later.  :)
