Hey all, I'll be in Utah from June 5th to June 10th and was wondering what type of fishing opportunities I might find. I'll be in the city of North Logan. Would love to catch a smallie if possible but just about anything would do! Any suggestions as to where to go and what type of gear I should bring would be much appreciated  

Jordanelle Reservoir near Heber City is one of the best trophy smallie fisheries around. Deer Creek reservoir also has decent smallmouth, and of course Flaming Gorge and Lake Powell are fantastic smallie fisheries.

Heber isn't that far from Logan so I would go fish Jordanelle.

Thanks Iceintheveins! I probably should have mentioned that I am shore bound. I'll do some research on the locations you recommended. I live in So.Florida so I mostly fish for Largemouth Bass. Any ideas of what lures I should bring? I figure that finess fishing would be the way to go with smallies. Last question. Do these lakes also have Largemouth bass? Thanks for the info

If you are shore bound I would use light line for long casts. Fish rocky riprap areas. Curly tail grubs on 1/4 ounce or heavier jigheads, 4" senkos, 1/4 ounce lipless cranks, and deep running cranks are your best bet.

There are a few largemouth in those lakes, except for Powell which has TONS of largemouth. In the other lakes they are few and far between.

That time period is on my week off, I haven't fished for bass in Utah, but I do have several good smallie fishing spots within 20 minutes of my house.

IDbasser when does the Snake start getting good for smallies? Around Pocatello? I have only fished down to around Rigby where the South Fork and the Henry's Fork go together, just for trout. How far upstream does the good smallie fishing go

I have caught them right below American Falls Dam, The river has some really nice ones in between American Falls and Walcott.  I have not fished for smallies above American Falls.  West of american Falls around Massacre Rocks is supposed to be good fishing too, I have not fished there yet, I hope to this year.  There is supposed to be some bass in American Falls Reservoir too, hopefully someone from around Pocatello can answer.  I live between Minidoka Dam (Lake Walcott) and Milner Dam.
