good spots in Boulder, Co

Featured Replies

I live in Boulder, Co right now. I come from Mass where I grew up bass fishing. Seems that out here you either fly fish or don't fish, but I know there has got to be some good bass fisher friendly spots.

I was wondering if anyone on here knows of any good spots to fish for any kind of bass in Boulder.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I really wanna get out there and catch something and I don't think people would take kindly to me spinning in the Boulder Creak. haha.

You know what? Those self righteous fly fishermen can go eat dirt as far as I'm concerned, and that's putting it kindly. They make up a TINY minority of the anglers in Colorado and in fact a small minority of fly fishermen as well. If you want to spin fish in Boulder Creek and they give you the look, give them the finger as far as I'm concerned.

There are lots of ponds around the Denver metro area that have nice bass in them, and lakes like Chatfield, Aurora, Horsetooth, and others have some decent smallmouth fishing. Thr lakes in the Rocky Mountain arsenal (Derby and Mary) have nice largemouth too but you have to take a quick orientation class and it's barbless hooks only for some dumb reason, as no reliable study has ever shown barbless hooks to have lower hooking mortality than barbed.

Colorado's bass fishing isn't bad actually in many areas. I should know, I live on the Western Slope where the goons with the CDOW and USFWS slaughter bass in our rivers and we still have good fishing.
