Folsom Lake

Featured Replies

I am fishing north of Lake Skinner for the first time. I am gonna be ab out 5 miles from Folsom lake and want to fish there a few days and then hit Clear Lake and the Delta. Anybody have any areas on Folsom that fish better than others? I am like this little guy at night thinking about my trip.  :D Thanks in advance for the help.

I like the south fork. It seems to have more big fish than the north fork.  If you see a hazard bouy, fish it. Main lake points, fish it. Also look out for bottom composition transitions. There are alot of places where the shore will go from sand to chunk rock in a matter of feet. Those transitions can be great.

fourbizz,

That's exactly what I am looking for. I have heard/read that Folsom is a crankbait/swimbait fishery. Of course all places fish most patterns. I am hoping to get some nice bass out of there. Thanks for the tips.

Idk ive never fished it.I wonder if its filled up at all with all this rain and snow this year.I remember it got so shallow a few years back where it was 5mph zone through the whole lake.My couzin lives in sacremento and about 2 years ago and there was like an ancient sunken bridge that came out of all the shallow water and it was the first time it had been out of the water in a super long time or something

The old salmon falls bridge comes out of the water fairly regularly, it is about 50ft down from the high water mark. The lake is full ( or at least was within 6ft a couple weeks ago when I was there). It was amazingly low last year, probably 175ft down. The only place you could launch was granite bay, and once you hit the highwater mark, there was another 1/2 mile of driving to get to the water, lol. It was ugly.
