Idaho: How Is Your Fishing This Spring

Featured Replies

This has to be one of the worst springs ever for me in terms of bass fishing.  The weekly rise and fall of the temperature has really made locating the fish difficult to say the least.

I was curious to know whether you Idaho bass fisherman are having the same struggles? :'(

The weather has been benn making it difficult to get out.  The winds have been making it difficult and dangerous to be out where I fish mostly, and then there has been snowing and hailing this past week.  We should have better weather starting this week, so I should be out, have most if the month of Jne off work so I can fish a bunch.

Where are you located DoubletT?

I am in Meridian. I spend a lot of time fishing Lake Lowell. When I have the time I go to Brownlee, and occasionally I will go to CJ Strike. I also make it to Swan Falls several times a year.

So far this year I have been to Lake Lowell several times, but have not caught a single bass. I had one day where I could see them but they were just completely uninterested. All but one person that I have talked to out there has been unable to get a bass, and the one guy that caught one said it was about 8 inches.

I went to Brownlee a couple weeks ago. The weather was beautiful that day, but I was told that it was the first day that water temps were over 60 and the bass were not to be found. We ended up fishing for crappie and caught a bunch, but we were the only boat catching any. Had several people ask what we were using.

Been a horrible spring as far as fishing goes.

I mainly fish Lake Walcott.  A friend was telling me about Lake Lowell, and I have been considering trying to get up there to try it ( I made a post about it further down the page).  I really enjoy CJ Strike too, mostly go there for crappie for fish to eat.

Yea, pretty slow so far this cool rainy spring, but I did nab 2X 18'' smallies @ CJ along w/a couple dozen smaller ones. Lowell's water is up again this year. Last year @ this time we were slaughtering them. I did manage a 2.4 lb. LMB a couple of weeks ago & then a half a dozen peanuts last week, fishing a couple hours in the rain & wind. But all in all a little disappointing so far w/ temps. 10-15 degrees below normal.

I am thinking about heading out to Lake Lowell this weekend.  If I go I will give a report.  Looks like it might be pretty nice on Sunday.
