Delta noob needs advice

Featured Replies

I am going to be fishing the delta on a regular basis. I just need some help to get me started. I have a 1436 jon with a 9.8. I need advice as to where to launch. Ideally productive water near a ramp.

Also, what are you guys flippin/pitchin? I have more confidence in plastics. But will stock up on jigs if they are that much more effective. Thanks

Haven't even been on the delta in like 4 months lol.Gonna go there soon once the weather gets stable. But first, how far are you willing to run?

I wouldn't mind running 45 minutes or so. I'm not sure how fast this boat moves, maybe 18-20 mph.

Pretty much all the marinas are within 15-20 minutes of productive water in the Delta, so it's more of a matter of what area you'll be visiting/staying. As far as plastics, you can generally do well with any craw imitations and Senkos are pretty much always productive if you don't mind fishing slow. Water was approaching 60 degrees out there today... only a matter of time until that bite explodes!

Where are you located???

I actually live in Reno, but I keep my boat in a garage in Lodi. So I have easy access to highway 12 and the Stockton area.

Thought that was a little wierd lol since it said you lived in Nevada.Ladds Marina at Buckley cove is only 30 minutes from Lodi, and B and W is another option but i couldn't find it on google maps

Thanks Ripper. B&W looks like my shortest shot. I will be out there Sunday if the weather cooperates!

Hahaha ya we will probably hit the delta too this weekend if theres an opening but i doubt it since it looks like a cold front is moving through. If you're launching out of b and w go left from the launch ramp up the river, thats typically the better fishing. So go left, away from the bridge. If you do decide to go passed the bridge, be careful because there is a big shallow flat area a little ways down the river

Tower Park Marina is also right there... good luck with the cold front!
