I'll start the day with a topwater (usually a spook), then switch to a crank (bluegill or baby bass pattern), then onto the jig (brown or green pumpkin). Top to bottom.

Around here I can and this is the only time of year I can throw about anything and at least get a bite

x2 with FBL. They are going to the fiesta this time of year. Early - top and fluke'em. Then to faster subsurface for mid morning. And now it's time to get Jiggy with it. "Ohhh Yeah Baby" It's show time.   :o

Soft jerkbait or a popper.

just after the spawn the females are in a sullen mood.it takes them a while to become active.they wont go to far from where they spawned.the males are just the opposite, they are aggressive guarding the bed and then fry and will attack anything.

there is a short window when the females get over it that they will go on a feeding frenzy, this is top water time.once that period is over then they start a move back to deeper water.secondary points, first drops, submerged grass, deeper weedlines will be the route back to eventually summer haunts.

its that few weeks of feeding frenzy we all dont want to miss .here in fla. its just starting in some lakes.
