Major meteor showers tonight

Featured Replies

I don't know if this is just for New England but they are calling for meteor showers from 11:30-1:30 tonite.  Supposed to be 100-200/hr.  A normal shower averages 10/hr.

Should be very cool, I plan to try and catch some on film, not sure how that will work out but worth a try.

Nice, I'm glad I found this post early enough to plan for it.  If you want to take some pics, I find the best way to do it is with a super slow exposure, if your camera can slow down the shutter.  A friend and I took some pics about ten years ago with a long exposure and the pics came out pretty good, lots of streaks across the film.  TBH, though, if someone didn't know what they were looking for, you'd think they were just crappy pictures...

Exactly,....low light conditions and stop action photography just don't mix without big money equipment.

Yep, and its just so hard to pointing the camera in the right spot at the right time.  You'll need to be pretty lucky, but with it being almost 100/hour your chances deffinately increase.  The lack of moon light will make for an even better show.  If any of the pics come out, I'd love to see some.

Also, there's another big one in a month if the clouds roll in too thick tonight.  According to the Farmer's Almanac (I love that book!) its on the 13-14th December and it lasts all night long.  Pretty cool way to usher in the winter every year...

OH GOOD!!!  I JUST GOT SOME OLD SPICE BODY WASH and a new scrubbie thing
