Kansas Water

Featured Replies

Got some much needed rain here in Kansas here are some pictures i took from around the Manhattan area where i live. The first is looking over the bridge that i drive over heading to work, the water is roughly 3 times higher than the usual river itself and still rising. 2007_0316water0003.jpg

The next two pictures are of a walkway with water on both sides usually water is only on the right side the only time water is on the left is if there is more than 3000 cfs of water being let out or if we get lots or rain in a short amount of time. As you can tell the water is still rising the pictures were taken roughly 4 hours apart.

And last but not least this is a picture of the water left of the walkway which is usually dry. The lake is also expected to rise 20-30 feet but they won't be letting much out very soon since of the flooding which is causing problems downstream.

Here in Tulsa we've had 6" of rain in the last two days and there is anothor big batch of the wet stuff moving in tonight.  No major flooding yet, but all the rivers and streams are on the brink.  One of the good things is that one of our larger lakes was 12' below normal last week.  As of today, it is only 1' low.  I figure by tommorow evening, that lake will be at full pool.
