What is a good red sauce or gravy I can purchase or if you have a good recipe that would great I could make a big batch and put in the freezer.

Use to date an Italian girl and once you've had the real thing it hard to have anything else.

Well, it's not Muddy's recipe but here's my recipe for sauce.

put a couple teaspoons of olive oil in the sauce pot.  Add 1 bulb (not clove) chopped garlic.  Slightly cook garlic, just till softer but not browned.

add

3 cans "ground peeled" tomato's (Pastene)

3 bay leaves

1 cup chopped parsley (fresh, flat leaf, not curly)

1/2 sprig rosemary (stripped from stem)

salt & pepper

Simmer, cover on 1.5 hrs, stir frequently

remove lid, simmer 1.5 more hours

Leftovers can be frozen

I know tomatoes can be the key. What is the best kind and brand?(If they don't carry locally I will order just tell me where)

SIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is what you need for the basic marinara sauce:

2 cans of Tuotrosso crushed tomatoes(packed with basil)

1 small can of tomatoe paste

4 tablespoonfulls of Italian Olive oil

3 to 5 pieces of garlic ;sliced VERY THIN

a small quantity of very finely chopped onion

3 nice sized leaves of FRESH BASIL

3 small carrots( to swetten the sauce NEVER EVER PUT SUGAR IN A GOOD SAUCE)

salt and black pepper

1/2 cup of good Italian red wine

Good Italian Peccorino Romano Cheese

heat oil on the bottom of the pot you are cooking sauce in(make sure pot has a thick bottom)

put garlic and onion in (when garlic gets slightly brown around the edges

Add can of paste and stir it until paste gets dark

add all the other ingredients

including the carrots

simmer for at least 2 hours

remove carrots

thetsa nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
