Told as a Child....

Featured Replies

wind from the South blows the hook in the fish's mouth,

wind from the West is when fishing is the best,

wind from the East is when the fish bite the least,

wind from the North ????????????????????? ( can't remember )

Anyone ever hear this and what is the rest of North????

Also, any truth to this?

truth to it in minnesota for walleye fishing...never caught crap with the east wind blowin

wind from the north the fish swim back and forth?

not sure if thats right

I thought it was winds from the north, fishermen go forth?  :-?

Bah...that whole schpeel is nothing but an old wives tale. Not a grain of truth to it. Fact of the matter is, it doesn't matter which way the wind is blowing. Any day, regardless of wind direction, is good for fishing. However, I will say this: PAY ATTENTION TO WHICH WAY THE WIND IS BLOWING!! The best fishing will almost always be on the banks that the wind is blowing toward. The wind blows small bits of photoplankon and other forage for smaller baitfish to feed on in toward the banks. As a result, the predators usually follow the baitfish to the wind blown banks. You may have to battle the wind, but it is well worth the fight.
