A General Fishing Tip

Featured Replies

Wanted to share a helpful fishing tip with you guys I picked up in Bassmaster magazine a few years back, I've been using it and thought you might like to hear it, maybe you already use it.

After you get back from fishing, and can't get that fish smell off of your hands, use some toothpaste on your hands after you wash them.  This kills any fishy smell and leaves your hands smelling fresh.

Thought I'd share.

I've always used lemon juice...but I might have to give the toothpaste a try.  Lemon juice in cuts hurt.

That orange GOJO stuff that mechanics use, works very well also.  Takes the smell with the grime.

Salt works well (if you don't have any cuts).  Even better than that is meat tenderizer.  My college chemistry teacher taught me that.  There are enzymes in it that kind of "eats away" at the very outermost layer of skin, taking the smell with it.

If that doesn't work, you can always try this ;)

Why do you want to take the fish smell off. That's proof that you accually caught something.  ;)

yeah, really. There are days that I would give anything to have that smell on my hands...

I wish I had known this tip the first time I tried to catch catfish with that blood dough bait. My hands smelled for 3 days after touching that stuff....

'cuz the girlfriend won't let me anywhere near her after I've been fishing.

I'm suprised Muddy hasn't chimed in on this one!

If I wasn't positive that it would be deleted immediately, I would drop a great joke in here. Sigh!
