U of Nebraska's AD FIRED!

Featured Replies

University of Nebraska's Athletic Director, Steve Peterson, was Fired today!!!! I could not be more happy. Actually I think I just saw the parade going by celebrating his departure. What was allowed to happen to our football program was just plain embarassing!!!!  :-[

Rumor has it that Head Coach Callahan is next.

THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!!!!

The current rumor floating around is that Cosgrove may beat Pedersen out the door and that Callahan has been told that Texas will be his last game.  You are right about how bad things have gotten.  Hope this gets 'em back on the right track, but it could be several years now to undo the damage.

I wish someone would fire our head coach.  Fran needs to GO!!!  >:(

Biggest mistake ever, Firing Slocum, or running him off.   When Slocum departed, so did the "Wrecking Crew".       Slocums offense might have been lacking, but his defense was amoung the nations best most years!!!!!!!!!

Very good for Texas, Bad for the Big XII.   Same goes for Nebraska, I don't think the pass has "caught" on very well.

Tom Osborne was tough act for any coaches to follow.   Appears they may go thru a few more coaches to find a coach like Tom.

"caught" - Let me slap my knee!! ;D  You should take that act on the road.  ::)

Yes, I have to admit that R.C. did have it together with the "D".  It bothers me when some of the current Aggie players refer to themselves as the "Wrecking Crew".  They don't even come close to the real wrecking crew.  When R.C. left, I do admit that I was one who wanted change, but I never wanted Fran.  I always thought that Gary Kubiak would have made us a great coach.

Don't know about Gary and Texas A&M, but was very pleased to see the Texans get him, it won't be long if they give him the players he needs, they'll be competitive.

I don't know what the Aggies pay for Fran, but I think its too much.      Normally a die hard Texas fan would be thrilled to give Fran a vote to stay, but this goes deeper than Texas vs A&M, its about restoring the balance in the Big XII.

Would Gary have come home if the money was right, or is the pros where he wanted to be?

Don't get me wrong, I do love UT winning, but not having balance between the South and North hurts competition.

My two outside longshots this year have been Mizzou and KU.    I like the KU coach and Chase Daniels was from near by school.    Great QB that had no place to go in Texas or someone that was gonna be starter for a few years more than Chase wanted to wait.

The Black shirts need to give them back also.    That defense hasn't been the same since the Osborne days either.

Well I guess I'll chime in!  This series of mistakes started with Dr. Tom insisting on Frank Solich as his replacement.  Frank was a very loyal assistant but didn't have the Head Coaching skills it takes to recruit and run the "business of a Major Program".  With that being said we have fallen with poor choices starting with the charactor of Steve Pederson.  The mess that was caused in firing Frank and hiring Callahan and the lies in between put us where were at today.

Hey Catt, is Bo Pelini's house on the market. He will be the #1 choice of NU and A&M in my opionion.  He also may be offered the LSU job when Miles takes over for Lloyd Carr at Michigan.

I believe yesteday was a sad day in the NU football program and I hope were all prepared for the fallout and rebuild.  This isn't over but it was a start in what I hope is the restoration of a once proud program.

GO BIG RED, GO BIG XII

Husker,

I have seen UT beat Nebraska 3 times,    Nebraska has some of the classiest fans I have ever been around after those loses.

My hats off to your fans,        I wished I could say that Texas displayed better sportsmanship all the time.    Not all are bad, but a few do give your college a black eye sometimes.

Good luck on finding the next T. Osborne.

Hard shoes to fill.
