Holiday season safety!

Featured Replies

With the holiday season fast approaching, I'd like to offer a reminder........

Please don't DRINK AND DRIVE.

Every holiday season I unfortunanely witness a tragedy that could have been avoided. It always saddens me to see people who are lost because they CHOOSE to get behind the wheel after drinking. You do have other choices, have a desginated driver, don't drink if you are driving, stay where you are after drinking, the list goes on and on.

Although being arrested is the easy way out (as opposed to crashing and hurting yourself or others) think about how it would affect your life. Would you loose your job? How would you afford the costs of going to court and penalties you will face? How would you tell your children, wife, girlfriend, family?

Lets all have safe and happy holiday season!

Excellent reminder.

If you MUST drink, designate a driver.

For anyone in RI, I don't drink, I am awake at all hours of the night and you are never too far away (gotta love our state) Don't hesitate to call me.

Funny Russ.  Exactly how far across is it, and how long does it take to drive across?

Good advice, Leo!!  I wish I could have learned that lesson as a teen.  Only by the grace of God did I not get killed driving home lots of times.

Parents,

Talk to your teens about drinking and driving.  I was always too afraid to call my parents because I knew they REALLY didn't want me drinking.  I'm not advocating that you make drinking OK, but let them know that their safety comes first and that they CAN call you.

It's roughly an hour North to south, at the speed limit anyway, and about 40 minutes wide. :)

I've been fortunate enough to travel the world and I wouldn't live any place else.  We got it all :)

Yea my brother got in a wreck 2 years ago on my other brothers birthday and it nearly killed him, he spent months in the hospital and when he got out spent months in a wheelchair and in casts.I stayed with him for almost 3 months and helped him with everyday things since he couldnt walk, after seeing that and all the heartache it caused on the family i hope no one does drink and drive, some people think im ok to make it from here to here real quick and thats all it took for him, a pack of cigarettes and some gas 10 minutes max.My uncle was also killed by a drunk driver and left behind 2 beautiful daughters and a loving wife.So if your ever thinking of doing it,DONT.

I'll find my thread from last year and bump it. Thanks for the reminder.
