Help with guitar rattle.

Featured Replies

Iam in the works of self teching myself guitar. But my problem is that the 5th and 6th string are rattling. None of the strings are hitting any of the frets. I have gogled it and game up with nothing. So I can use your help guys.

What kind of guitar? ( electric, acoustic, make model)

Low string buzz is usually fret buzz.  If you are sure its not fret buzz, look at the bridge.

Its a electric washburn rocker series. Its there like there old 300 doller guitars. I bought it used. I all ready looked down the fret board and all the frets are even. BY the way what is fret buzz.

Fret buzz is a result of a bad bridge or nut.

Thanks burley. When I get some extra cash I will take it in and see if that whats wrong.

It probably just needs a minor tweak.  When you depress the string it is buzzing against another fret somewhere on the neck.  I would say your bridge needs raised just a touch but let someone at a guitar shop do it.

I found out the tuning pegs are causing it.

If thats the case then there may be something wrong with the nut.  the strings behind the nut shouldn't vibrate.   Something must be really loose in your pegs.

My initial response would be a truss rod that needs to be tweaked....
