Just wow! Darn theives

Featured Replies

Amazing. You know that lady was probably NOT going to survive that encounter if those thugs DID make it inside.

Cool that she bought that rifle too; was that an AR-15 or something?

More power to her...

Glad to see people sticking up for themselves!!!! ;)

Looks like an AK-style rifle to me.

The scarry part is that the theives were cutting the phone lines.  So they knew that someone was going to be home.

The Dallas police dept. has started posting surveilance tapes of crimes on You Tube. They posted one recently of two men ripping plasma tv's off a wall in a business. Someone saw the video and called DPD and told them they knew who the two guys were and they were caught and arrested.

Completely, If you notice the gas block and gas tube on top of the barrel and the handle attached to the bolt. Thats more of an AK design than an AR. The gas from the fired round goes up the block and pushes the piston. Here is a diagram a similar designed AK as the one pictured above.

They AR's use a different system. You can see it a lot better when she turns the gun arround to the other side (at 1:49/2:12 into the video, I dont know how to take a picture of it). But the lower section does look a lot like an AR though.

It looks absolutely NOTHING like an AK.

How is the AR gas system different than the AK?

Here are a few more pictures of various AK-47 designs. There are many different variants but they work the same way.

Another on a bipod

Now take a look at all the Ak-47's, specifically at the middle of the barrel.  That tube going up fills with gas and pushes a piston that ejects the spent shell and reloads the rifle.   On all three rifles, this is present (these two and the one in the video).

Ok here is an AR-15

ar15.jpg

Now if you look at the AR15 design, you will see that this is not present. The AR has a much smaller gas delivery tube system that directly recharges the rifle. In otherwords there is no piston that the gas needs to push back on to reload.

ACK! LOL one sec, I looked at the video again in higher quality and what I took for a charging hadle on the bolt, wasnt. I also didnt see the saftey that is common on AK platforms.

Sorry Burley you were certainly right and that is not an AK

I was wrong.

:-[

Sorry about that

Here is the actual rifle and it is an AR-15 made by Olympic Arms.
