Auto GPS systems - any recommendations?

Wife and I are looking to get GPS systems for the cars.  Thinking we are just going to get one that we can move between our vehicles.  Was curious what others' experience has been with GPS.  Brands, functions and features that are liked.  

Right now I am leaning towards a Garmin C550

    My wife has a Tom Tom that is pretty nice except that you can't hear the audio instructions very well.

    I have the Tom Tom One third edition. It works very well and is comparatively cheap. I have no problem with the sound quality or operation.
