i just learned that if you add:

&fmt=18

to the end of any youtube URL, it will make it "HD". im not sure if i would call it HD, but it sure is much better quality.

It's not available on all videos.

You can now buy HD camcorders for about a grand. I don't know if that is what is making the youtube vids HD but I do often see the icon to view some videos in higher quality but it is definitaly not true HD. My monitor is HD and regular DVD has much better resolution than the so called HD youtube vids.

Normally when you upload a video to youtube it is converted down to a lower quality so it will load faster. I think with the new high quality option, they are just not compressing the video when it is uploaded or at least not as much.
