I just bought a set for our fireplace, we have lived in the house for 7 years and never had a fire in it.  Other than the recommended cleaning and inspection of the fireplace and chimney, how difficult is it to install these?  There is already a gas line coming into the firebox and I am very comfortable with doing plumbing myself.  Should I spend the money and hire a plumber to make the connection or is this something I can do myself?

    I would suggest a plumber doubles checks your work or does the installation for you.
