Drop Shot Jigs  (pics and link added)

Featured Replies

not really. all my dropshotting is with some sort of minnow imitation or a worm.  what kind of jig are you talking of

I've put jigs on the bottem of my dropshots as the weight and did better with the jig than on the dropshot lure itself.  I don't know about any dropshot jigs though.  Gotta pic or a link??

I will pull some out of the boat and get a picture to post, right now the cover is on and it is raining.  they are small and light enough you can't cast them by themselves.  There is a small hole through the head that the tag end of your line goes through to attach the wieght.

added the pics and a link above.

The size of a quarter?  I'd probably try flipping one instead of putting it on a dropshot.  I wouldn't know how they perform as intended though.  I do good to catch fish on a regular dropshot, and even then I tweak it and "fish it wrong," as my buddy says.

There are a lot of good fish caught out here by drop shotting brush hogs, baby brush hogs, beavers, and other craw baits. Couldn't see why a jig wouldn't work.

You would have to add wieght in order to flip them.  They have almost no wieght.  No lead in them, the head is made out of some light material.

Ahh ok.  So it's jig looking, but not really a jig per say.  I don't see why they wouldn't work then.  I'd probably treat it like a jig on the drop shot though.  I'd think about adding a strike king bitsy chunk trailer to it.  Those things are pretty small and would give you a bit more action.  On a lure that small, it might be hard to keep the crappie off of it which is NEVER a bad thing :o

I wish I had problems with keeping crappie off of it.  My nearest crappie lake is 2 hours away.

Or add a zoom "tiny"brush hog as the trailor.

The tiny brush hog sounds like a good idea to me, I have a good variety of them.  I will try it out next week if the wind will die down.  I have the next 3 weeks for fishing.  Don't you just love vacation time?!

The tiny brushhog worked very well, caught several on it on Monday
