Underground dog fence

Featured Replies

I am hoping to install an Innotek underground god fence this weekend.

The instructions indicate using "twisted wire" to make a break in the fence.

Is twisted wire something else I need to buy, or do I just cut off an extra piece of wire and twist it to the main wire?

Thanks for the help/suggetions.

They mean twisting the loop of wire together upon itself so that it cancels out (kind of like a bread tie, you wrap it around the bread plastic and then twist the ends together to make the loop).  I have found the best way to twist the wire is to stick the ends in a cordless drill and gently give her some juice.  This seems to make it tight and not break the line.  Not sure how much you are going to lay for wire, but I ended up changing my wire from the kit out with some 14 gauge solid copper from my local hardware store.  It lasts just as long, and I actually get a better signal (I am running enough to surround 4 acres).  I also did not bury mine.  I ran it tight to the ground and used landscape staples to keep it tight.  I mow my lawn at no more than 3 inches and have never had a problem.  Just my 2 cents.
