For those of you that are really into the outdoors, you NEED to check out this place for your gear.  This place was recommended by a member on this site.  Then after fourbizzs' great experience with them I gave it a try.  They sell all kinds of outdoor gear, from backpacks, to socks, to kayaking, to sleeping bags, etc.  While they lack the vast selection of say REI, they more than make up for it in their price's.  Their slogan is 35%-70% EVERY DAY, I have found this to be true.

My first purchase was a internal frame backpack.  It was just under 4000 Cubic inches (Cant' remember the brand) but I was able to get it just under $50 shipped.  The cheapest I could find it for anywhere else online was $109 + Shipping.  The transaction went great, fast shipping, and it came exactly as described online.

My second purchase (Waiting for it to arrive) is a new sleeping bag.  I was able to get it for $57 shipped.  The cheapest I could find it anywhere else is $79 + $12.95 shipping.

As you can see the prices are just ridiculous.  Take a look at this comparison -

REI Backpack - $329

Same backpack sierratradingpost.com - $186.95

I'm not bashing REI at all (I actually like going into their store, ours has a VERY knowledgeable staff and has a decent selection, but their prices are too high).  I am also not sponsored or related to Sierratradingpost.com.  Just passing the information along.

Their stock of items doesn't seem to be static.  It appears as though they get a rotation of different items in.  They have a clearance section and also a Bargain Bin (Similar to the Bargain Cove at Cabelas).  I bought my backpack their and 2 days later they were all gone and no longer on the website for sale.

Also after you first order you can subscribe to their newsletter.  Although they send you an email around once a week, they ALWAYS throw in a 15%-35% discount code.  Yes it's obviously a plan to get you to spend more money but that on top of already good prices is a great deal and well worth the couple extra emails in your inbox.

Their shipping prices are reasonable.  I only paid 8 dollars to ship a big hiking backpack.  It is super light, but it was a BIG box.  They base the shipping rates on the price of your order.  Their rates are similar to Bass Pro Shops  :-? .  But with outdoor gear you normally have bigger items than fishing gear (I could buy a $400 ocean kayak at STP and they would charge me the same shipping rate as BPS would charge to ship a Shimano Calais)

Anyway, enough with my sales pitch... check it out, you wont be disappointed http://www.sierratradingpost.com
