Spock & Uhura???

Spock & Uhura????????

Felt a little jumbled to me, a little rushed.  Casting wasn't bad.  While I'm a fan of Simon Pegg, IMO he isn't Montgomery Scott material.

Destroying Vulcan was cheap heat.  Fit into the plot quite well, but it threw too many wrenches into Star Trek canon.

I enjoyed it, but I would like to report JJ Abrams for rape.  :-/

X2 on everything you said.

I liked simon pegg as a less seasoned scotty though.

See I am a Trekkie. Not the dress up as a klingon and go to a convention type, but I really liked the original series, and to varying degrees the other series. I know Roddenberry would have HATED this show. Had it been called anything but "Star trek" to me it would have been an awesome movie. The original series IMO did so well because Roddenberry did not go for the cheap thrill. He had very well developed characters, storyline and while futuristic, he and his staff did VERY well keeping the storyline consistent throughout all the series and movies.

Folks had to work HARD to find all the inconsistencies and the major ones I could count on one hand. I could write a book on the things I thought were wrong with the movie but the basics was it turned Star Trek from a series with well developed characters, socially relevant storyline, and futuristic but plausible technology, to another brainless blow it up, flash boom, special effect scifi movie.

TNG was the pinnacle of star trek.

Everything else has sucked to varying degrees.
