never seen this before

Featured Replies

I was top-water fishing last evening and catching a few bass on a Pop-R.  As I was taking the lure out of one of the bigger ones I saw all of this black stuff sticking out of his gullet.  So I grab hold of it to see if I can pull it out and find out what he's been eating and all I get is bunch of feathers.  Looks like he ate a bird.  Now that's a fish who really goes for top-water...above the water.

when i lived in south fl, many years ago... i once saw 4 ducklings get eaten by peacock bass as they were swimming behind the monther.... only 1 was left after the attack.......

quite the sight!!

A large, hungry bass won't hesitate on eating a duckling swimming in the water. It seems like they will eat anything that swims and will fit in their mouths.

Several years ago, I saw a story about a lure maker that specialized in bird type lures.  Basically they were topwater lures that supposedly got huge bass bites by imitating baby birds that had fallen in the water.

forgot who it is but theres a japan lure company that makes little top water bird lures,i also know musky are famous for going after ducks,i once saw a bass inhale a small turtle, they truly are the garbage can of the water  :P
