Another Lake Tragedy

Featured Replies

Some folks visiting from Germany were swimming in Kentucky Lake just out from our house yesterday afternoon when one was struck by a pontoon boat. Deb and I were already hooked up to the boat and were on the water searching in less than 10 minutes several minutes before the rescue squad arrived. Deb actually saw his arm pop up for a split second, but we were 50 yards os so from him and using the trolling motor.

We searched for about an hour until the rescue squad got going in force. The rest of last night we spent taking hot coffee and other supplies to the recue squad and the family of the victim.

As of this morning they are still dragging for him.

Here are some of the rescue squad

This is Zuke ... a rescue dog. He can find bodies even on the water

We pray for the family and that he is found soon.

:(

Always sad to hear something like this.  God bless you and your wife for being kind enough people to get out there and help and continue to aid with supplies.

Some people would have simply watched from the comfort of their home.

You all did what you could.

What a tradegy.

People just don't realize how dangerous water can be.

Let us know what happens.

Sad situation.  Your post seemed to indicate that this is a frequent occurance on KY Lk.  Is that the case?

Not so many people getting run over with boats, just water deaths in general. This makes number 18 for this year on Kentucky/Barkley ..... 18 too many.

He was found this morning about 9:30 or 10AM right where Deb saw him surface for a split second yesterday afternoon.

I hadn't heard that yet. That's real sad. This year has been very bad year for Kentucky Lake. Any details on the accident? I hope this wasn't another alcohol related incident.
