GPS Unit Stolen

Featured Replies

Wife's GPS unit in her Jeep was stolen from her car last night while in a downtown Richmond, Virginia parking garage.

The perp tried to take the XM radio but failed.

Had to replace the driver side window and will now start looking for a Tom Tom.

Words to the Wise: If the unit is not installed in your vehicle please hide it or take it with you.

Police told us that GPS units are being stolen everywhere and the perps will break the windows to get them.

Hope the perp dies a slow death from a dread disease. :)

well, sam that sucks. they always do more damage getting to the stuff than what it cost to replace them. good luck.

Sam I hear yah man, I have only had my car broken into once, but they took everything and broke 4 windows, damaged the key cylinder and radio, stole everything including my homework.

sorry about your luck....You should never wish death upon someone.... that is not cool

I may have heard wrong, but I thought somewhere along the line it was said that the vehicle mounted GPS's being swiped were for the information on them like home addys. If they use the memory to track movements thus finding out when a homeowner is most likely not at home?

Sorry to here it Sam, I hope what I recall isn't true but I would keep my eyes open.

That is kind of scary!  It almost seems easier to follow someone home no?

The way I understood it, they download all the stored info on  the GPS so they can look at daily patterns and that gives them odds of when you would be away from home.

I think I saw that on an episode of Criminal Minds. Scary stuff.

Carrington,

Tournament was on Lake Gaston and we placed 4th with 5 fish for 9.92 pounds.

Second place was 10.24 and third place was 10.04.

Just could not find one more 2.5 pounder.

Thanks for asking.  :)

That is absolutely the truth. Its happened in my town (45 miles or so from Sam) a bunch at high school football games. Gps is up, thieves take it knowing the people arent home, type in "HOME", and now we have a case of burglary.

Sam, I don't know about Richmond, but Stafford/ Fredericksburg crime has gone up A LOT this year.
