Microsoft Security Essentials

the recent malware thread got me thinking

what do you guys think of Microsoft Security Essentials?

I had Microsoft Live One Care until they ended it. Then I switched to Microsoft Security Essentials. I just uninstalled it last night. Ever since I switched to Essentials, my computer would lock up frequently. It was like it was constanly scanning and updating even though I only had it set to scan and update once a week. I installed Panda (free version) last night and so far no lock ups, so I think it was Essentials.

Edit:

I think it worked fine as far as security. I run Malwarebytes scans from time to time and it didn't pick up anything.

Here's a link to some reviews of free antivirus downloads.

I installed it on one of my laptops. No problems so far.

I use it. I used AVG and Avast on my other PC's for a long time. If you use these, then switch to MS Security Essentials, you'll notice a nice increase in speed. I never realized how much either of these bogged down my system until I uninstalled them.

Now, all of our work PC's and all of my home PC's run it. I usually don't recommend MS products, but this one gets my thumbs up!

i use MS essentials , avira , ad aware and malware bytes when i suspect something. never had any issues.
