first bowhunt of the season

Featured Replies

Went out today in Central Iowa for my first bowhunt in a couple of years. Unfortunately, there wasn't much fresh sign, didn't even hear one approach or see one (whitetails that is). Anyone else here hunt public land and have any tips?

Try scouting before the season begins.  I trained a squirrel dog this Summer, and in the process found out where the deer lived, ate, drank, and walked.  If you love to hunt "scouting" can become the most enjoyable part of the experience.
